All dance styles welcome! Ages 10 and up.

– Educate dancers on proper movement quality and its importance.
– Get the dancers stronger to improve their work and recovery capacity.
– Help the dancers build body awareness.
– Balance patterns of overuse to prevent injuries.

Dance Medicine

Dance Injury Assessment:

A 60-minute appointment which includes a musculoskeletal screen and a physiotherapy assessment. Dancers will participate in a dance specific functional screen including dance technique and movement pattern analysis. The physiotherapy assessment examines neuromuscular control, balance, strength, flexibility and muscle imbalances. Dancers with a history of injury may also undergo special orthopedic tests to assess the integrity and recovery of the injured tissues. The assessment will be followed by a discussion regarding findings and recommendation of appropriate treatment and exercises.

Pointe Readiness Assessment:
A 60-minute appointment that includes a musculoskeletal screen, a physical exam and suggestions for improvement based on any physical limitations. Evidence-guided and measurable tests are utilized to help determine the dancer’s readiness for pointe work. Pre-pointe assessments also include a discussion regarding assessment findings, professional recommendation related to pointe readiness and exercises to help reduce and prevent injuries.

Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30pm
Includes 6 classes + Pivot Dancer online membership
$270 + HST

Ready for your best year of dance? This 6-week program is designed with exercise physiology principles in mind to increase resiliency throughout the dance season. Pilates exercises will be used to improve core strength while helping dancers better control their trunk, hips and shoulders. Full body strengthening will focus on muscular endurance to build a strong base for future programs and all classes will integrate high intensity intervals to improve cardiovascular capacity; this has been shown to help decrease overtraining and injury risks throughout an athlete’s season.

Strong & Long Extensions

October 29th to December 3rd
Tuesdays from 4:30 -5:30pm
Includes 6 classes + Pivot Dancer online membership
$270 + HST

Looking for beautiful lines in your dancing? Flexibility and beautiful extensions are important for success in dance; but not if it comes at the cost of injury. Traditional prolonged stretching programs can cause injury and do not work on the ability to carry the body safely to new range.

This 6-week program will work on core strength and body awareness in combination with mobility drills and strengthening exercises to improve flexibility and motor control.
